2 Samuel 7:22: For There Is None Like You

David Campbell Jr.

2 Samuel 7:22 (New King James Version)

Therefore You are great, O Lord God. For there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

There is no one greater than the God of the Bible. Many today would claim there are many ways to heaven. Many would claim that all gods are the same, it doesn't matter who you worship. But the thing that sets apart the God of the bible from all other gods is He is the one true Living God.

He so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. The bible is the only book that calls Jesus the Son of God and shows that Jesus is fully God. Even the Jehovah witnesses who claim that Jesus is the Son of God believe that He is not equal with God but simply created.

But we who know Christ personally have a relationship with the one true Living God. No matter what we face in this life, He is greater. No matter how difficult a season, He is greater. He will sustain us. He will never forsake us nor abandon us. He will provide for all of our needs. No matter how hard and difficult things become on the earth, the Lord is greater.

King David knew this. King David knew more than anyone the only reason he became king is because God chose him. God sustained David's life over and over again when David was running from Saul. There were multiple times in which David could have ended the life of Saul, but David demonstrated his trust in the Lord.

David's sin is well documented in scripture, but the thing that set David apart is that he never worshipped any other god but the Living God. It was God alone who he worshipped and gave all his affection. May we have the same heart as David. May we worship the Lord alone. May we remove every idol and anything that would hinder our relationship with the Living God.

Today you may find yourself in a difficult season. You may feel like throwing in the towel. I would encourage you to immerse your mind and heart in the word of God. Read through and out loud the promises of the Lord over your life. David says "all that we have heard with our ears". The greatness and faithfulness of God was well known in Israel. He had demonstrated time and time again that even though His people failed Him and walked in rebellion, the Lord never forsook or abandoned them. Hold fast my friends to the faith and trust you have in Jesus Christ. He is always faithful.

Prayer

Father today lead and guide me in all my ways. Help me to let go of the fear and discouragement. Write your word upon my heart and transform me into the person you have called me to be. Guard my heart and mind from every assault of the enemy. Shut his mouth and my your voice be the only voice I hear. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
