Hebrews 9:28 (New King James Version)
so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
Jesus is coming a second time. He is returning to the earth. We look at all that is happening in the earth now and sometimes we can wonder where is God in all of this. As wickedness increases on the earth we can wonder God do you see and even care at all that is happening.
God indeed sees and He does indeed care. His desire is that none would perish and all would come to everlasting life (2 Peter 3:9). What we must understand is that God's patience and mercy is far greater than we understand. He give humanity sufficient time to repent and turn from their wickedness.
The desire of God is not to pour out judgement, but is to pour out His mercy. He knocks on the door of hearts, drawing them to turn from their sin and to receive the forgiveness that is offered and purchased through Jesus Christ. But sadly many love their sin. Many love this world and the wickedness that is found in it.
But the return of Jesus is where our hope is found as Christians. We must remember that daily this world is not our home. We must diligently pray for our leaders regardless of where they stand politically. Lost people do lost things. When leaders have no relationship with Jesus Christ, the decisions they make will be shaped and influenced by the world and its system.
But there is a day and hour coming in which the Lord shall return and establish His kingdom. On that day we will rule and reign with Him. May our hearts and minds be fixed daily upon Christ and His coming. May we share the gospel with those as God gives us opportunity.
Prayer
Father help us each day to keep our hearts fixed on the return of your Son Jesus. Father keep our hearts and minds fixed on your kingdom. We know this world is passing away and this world is not our home. We pray for divine appointments and opportunities to share the gospel. Help us to live lives that bring you glory and keep us from anything that would detract from the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
