Do Not Be Anxious About Anything
Philippians 4:6 NASB2020
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Paul calls us to not be anxious about anything. Many today are bound in fear. They constantly live in fear. Every decision they make is based on fear. But this should never be the case for the follower of Jesus.
Paul shows us the key to overcoming anxiety: to simply bring everything before God in prayer. Daily we find ourselves in the midst of a spiritual war and our minds and hearts are bombarded by the lies of the enemy. Every where we look the voice of the enemy is present. It is present in the media, it is present in entertainment, it is present through the leaders of our nation who continually pump fear into our society and world. When people are consumed with fear every decision they make is based on self-preservation and therefore love is not present.
But as followers of Jesus we are called to walk in love. We are called to live by faith. We are told that we have not been given a Spirit of fear, but of love, power, and sound mind. No matter what we are facing in this life we can always come to God with thanksgiving. The number one reason is the salvation found through Jesus. It is a gift, it is not earned. We don't deserve it, but God in His mercy extends forgiveness if we will simply place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Jesus paid it all so we can be set free. So we can be forgiven. So we can have brand new life in Him.
Today if you are bound in fear, worry, and anxiety, whatever is overwhelming your soul I would encourage you to give to Jesus. Every time we go to God in prayer we place the battle in His hands. God is undefeated and there is none greater than the Living God. But Satan's strategy is to always overwhelm us with lies and deception and manipulate our emotions and feelings. Stop living in fear and simply walk by faith, trusting Jesus each step of the way.
Prayer
Heavenly Father I come today and ask you to remove all fear. Help me to walk according to your word, trusting you each step of the way. Help me to not rely upon my emotions and feelings, but I pray that my life would be built upon the truth of your word. Father I thank you for your goodness and your love. I thank you that today my sins are forgiven and no matter what happens my life is in your hands. I thank you that I know the one who controls all things. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
