Don't brag about tomorrow

Proverbs 27:1 (New Living Translation)

Don’t brag about tomorrow, since you don’t know what the day will bring.

None of us know what tomorrow will bring. Jesus tells us not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow has enough trouble of its own. Here Solomon writes under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit not to brag about tomorrow. Our focus and our hope should always be fixed upon God Almighty. We have no idea what tomorrow will bring.

There are seasons in life in which it seems that things are moving and flowing smoothly. We can begin to feel pretty good about where we presently find ourselves. But we should never brag about tomorrow, because at any moment we can move from the mountain top, down into the valley.

Today whether you find yourself in the valley or the mountain top, know that Jesus stands with you. Often it is in the valley where the greatest work is done in our lives. Jesus has never promised that life would be easy. He has never promised that we would someone be exempt from trials. Trials is often where God doesn't His greatest work. The bottomline is we need to trust Jesus each step of the way. Not worrying about tomorrow. Not bragging about tomorrow. Simply living each day focused on our Lord and Savior and knowing that He will not only provide all we need, He will lead, guide, and direct our every step.

He has chosen us. He has drawn and called us. We haven't come to Jesus by accident. We don't deserve a relationship with Jesus, but thankful God in His mercy has opened our eyes to the greatest gift anyone could give us. An intimate relationship with Jesus. May we keep our eyes fixed upon Him and not worry about tomorrow. God is in control.

Prayer

Father today help me not to worry or brag about tomorrow. Help me to keep my eyes and heart fixed upon you, following you each step of the way. I thank you for your love, grace, and mercy. I thank you for every promise and that you will always provide. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
