For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.
There is one mediator between us and Almighty God. It is our sin that separates us from God because He is holy, righteous, perfect, and just. He cannot be in the presence of sin. When we are in sin we are actually enemies of Almighty God (Romans 5:10). Because of our sin, God must rightly deal with it.
In His mercy He has sent His Son to take the penalty we deserve. He who knew no sin, has become sin for us (2 Cor 5:21). This means that the sin of all humanity was placed upon Jesus as the Lamb of God. When Christ came the first time, He humbled Himself and became a servant. He perfectly lived according to the will of the Father. The Father's will was for the Son to suffer the punishment and wrath we deserve.
This is the love of God made manifest. The love of God is perfect, it is a decision of will, it is sacrificial. In no way do we deserve God's love or salvation. But because of His love for us, He has made a way for us to draw near to Him without fear and with confidence.
Today if you struggle with condemnation or shame, know that it is a lie of the enemy. If you have confessed your sin, He is faithful and just to forgive you. It has been nailed to the cross and God is not holding anything against you. He simply calls us to confess our sin and to turn from it. He desires for us to no longer live in sin, because sin is the very thing that will destroy our lives and destroy the purposes He has for us.
Today focus on Christ as your mediator. Every time you draw near to your Father in Heaven, He sees the perfection of who His Son is. Daily we are being transformed by the work and person of the Holy Spirit within us. May our lives be a living sacrifice to Him. May we desire to live to honor and glorify His name. As this becomes a reality in us, we will shine as a bright light in this crooked and broken generation.
Prayer
Father today I come and ask that you would continue to transform my life. I pray that every area of my life would be surrendered to you. Lead, guide, and direct me to live as you lived Lord Jesus. Holy Spirit change my heart and mind and may it become one with yours. May everything that is unpleasing to you be removed and may you produce within me all that you are.
