I Am The Light Of The World

John 8:12 (New Living Translation)

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

Jesus is the light of the world. We are told in God's word that His word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. The world we live in is filled with darkness, lies, and deceptions. When we come to know Jesus our hearts and minds are open to see and understand truth.

This Christmas season we have the opportunity to allow His light to shine through us. Words are very cheap when not backed up by action. Many may claim they love God and follow Jesus. But the question is do they really? Do they really love the one who manifested and personified pure love? In all that Jesus did, in every decision, in every word, in every action, He did all things because He simply loved us. The question is can we love like Jesus loved?

Some may say it is impossible. But I truly believe the key is abiding daily in Him. Reorganizing our lives so we have time in which we spend in His presence in prayer and time in His word reading and meditating upon His word. He desires to change and impact our lives. He desires to take the brokenness we come with and transform it into the beauty of who He is. It is not impossible, but it is indeed supernaturally.

When we love like Jesus love and we walk in His love in all things, His light shine through us. Jesus said that in the last days the love of most would grow cold because of the increase of wickedness. The only way we can truly walk in love is our lives becoming immersed in Jesus more and more.

Every day the invitation is extended to us. Every day He sets a table before us. There is so much He desires to share with us and teach us. May we not be too busy. May we remove any idols that would stand in the way. May we simply desire Him above all else.

Prayer

Father I pray that the light and glory of who you are would fill my life. Help me to love like you love and to be the person you have called and destined me to be. Father help me to have eyes to see and ears to hear. Help me in my weakness and my shortcomings. Forgive me when I fall short and fill me with your strength and power. Father help me to simply love as you have loved me. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
