If Anyone Is In Christ, He Is A New Creature

17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

Have you ever desired a fresh start? This is exactly what we have in Jesus every day. When we first come to Christ all of our sins are nailed to the cross. Everything is forgiven and all is washed clean by His precious blood. But as we walk with Jesus there will be short comings. No matter how hard we try, there will be things we struggle with at times. But thankful the Lord tells us in His word that if we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us.

One of the weapons of the enemy to paralyze us in our growth with Christ is condemnation. The enemy will remind us of our past and what we have done. Satan will play things over and over again in our minds like a broken record. The problem is if we pay attention to it and begin to believe it, it will place us in bondage and steal the freedom we enjoy in Jesus.

But if we will build our lives upon the truth of scripture and will daily renew our minds, we will be transformed. We will become the person that God has called us to become. Understanding the truth of scripture is paramount for walking and experiencing all that God has for us. Jesus has purchased our freedom but for us to experience that freedom on a daily basis we must have a right understanding of God's word.

Here it is very clear that in Christ we are a brand new creation. It doesn't mean that our life is an improvement on what it was previously but we are an entire new person and creation. We are no longer self-centered, we are now Christ centered. The more we walk with Him and spend time with Him, the more we see all things as He does. This includes every tactic and scheme that Satan tries to destroy our lives with. Today let go of the past, let go of the shame, let go of the condemnation and let God simply have His way.

Prayer

Father I come today and confess that at times I struggle with condemnation and the lies of the enemy. I ask you to protect my mind and heart. Father I pray that you would deliver me from every scheme and lie of Satan. Father fix my mind upon truth and help me to fully understand what it means to be a new creation in Christ. Break every stronghold of Satan and may I truly walk in your freedom on a daily basis. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
