If my people who are called by my name

If My People

2 Chronicles 7:14 English Standard Version

14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

If we are followers of Jesus Christ, we have become the sons and daughters of the Most High God. We have been adopted and we have been washed clean because of the precious blood of Jesus. Because our sins have been washed away, we can approach the throne of God with boldness. In Christ there is no longer any fear in approaching our Father in Heaven. When He looks at us, He sees us through the precious blood of His Son Jesus. It is as if we have never sinned.

Because of His precious blood we have access to God The Father in prayer. Here He tells us if we His people will humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways, He will hear from Heaven. Some believe that we can claim to love Jesus, live in sin, and God is okay with this. But He isn’t. Any father who loves their children if they see them doing something destructive, they will discipline them not because they are angry, but because they desire what is best for their children.

Our Father in Heaven desires what is best for us. It is important when we pray that we pray all things according to His will. The way we come to know and discern His will is intimacy developed with The Holy Spirit as we spend time with Him in prayer and the study of God’s word. We come to know the character and nature of God and the desires within us supernaturally begin to change. The very things we desire to pray for begin to supernaturally align with God’s will for our lives.

This promise was original given to Israel if they had turned from God and lived in rebellion. The heart of God is that His people would walk in obedience to His ways and His commands. It is obedience that opens the door to greater blessing and kingdom increase in our lives. May we ask Him to examine our hearts and if there is anything in our lives that is not pleasing unto Him, may we remove it. May we draw near each day with boldness and courage knowing that He hears us as we cry out to Him.

Father I thank you for your Son Jesus. I thank you that you hear me when I pray and that I am able to draw near without fear. Lead and guide me Holy Spirit. Align the desires of my heart with your perfect will for my life. Teach me how to pray and help me to grow each day in my relationship with you. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
