Luke 2:14: Peace to Those on Whom His Favor Rests

Luke 2:14 NIV “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

God's favor and peace rest upon those who are in right relationship with Him. Because of His love for humanity, God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to it. He sent Jesus to this earth to become fully human and to humble Himself becoming a servant and taking the sins of the world upon Himself.

There is nothing we have done to deserve salvation. Many times we pray for God to do many things, but when we meditate on what He has done for us through salvation, it is amazing how much He truly loves us. If God never did anything else in our lives but send forth His Son Jesus to die in our place, it would be enough.

God's peace is beyond human understanding. People in their rational thinking believe peace only exist in the absence of conflict. But with God, His peace is present at all times no matter what we are facing. Things on this earth are becoming much more difficult by the day. Things are escalating spiritually and the main reason is because of the second coming of Jesus.

God's grace is His unmerited favor upon us. It is not earned but it rest upon us because of faith in Jesus Christ and His mercy extended towards us. What I am always personally amazed by is that in having a relationship with Jesus the full measure of God's kingdom is available to us. As we seek the Lord and draw near and truly come to know Him, it is truly amazing because of Jesus what is made available to us.

The times we live in are hard and difficult for many. The Christmas message we have as Christians is the good news that so many need to hear. God has created a dynamic on the earth in which many are being brought to a place to be prepared to hear and receive the truth of Jesus Christ. Nothing is happening by accident and the return of our Lord and Savior is very near. Today I would encourage you to fix your eyes upon Jesus on a daily basis. There are many voices and a whole lot of noise that surrounds us daily that is focused on darkness and deception. But when we focus on the truth of the gospel, His peace will truly rest upon us and our minds will be united with His.

Father guard my heart today from the lies and deceptions of Satan. Guard my heart from the discouragement of the enemy. Father help me to understand the depths of your love for me and to understand how powerful your peace is. Father I thank you that because of Jesus your favor rests upon my life and I pray that every day I would simply walk in the promises you have established for my life. Father I thank you for your Son Jesus and I pray that my life would honor and glorify Him.
