So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
God tells us often in His word to not be afraid. Over and over again the Lord tells us that He will protect us, He will guide us, He will provide for us, He will heal us, He will restore us, and He will save us. The reason God tells us not to fear is because fear is actually based on a lie and deception. Satan will try to overwhelm our hearts and lives with fear, but none of it is based on truth.
The enemy may tell us that God has abandoned us or forsaken us. But we know that is not true because God tells us in His word that He will never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5-6). The enemy may tell us that God will not provide for our every need but this again is based on a lie. God has told us that He will not only provide for us but that He is The Good Shepherd (John 10).
The thief only comes to kill, steal, and destroy. Satan will always challenge the word of God and try to get us to abandon and forsake the Lord. He did it in the garden of Eden when he challenged the word of God. He lied and said that the only reason God told them not to eat from the tree is because they would be like God. But the truth is God told them not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil because when they did they would be separated from God because of sin and it would lead to death and destruction entering the human race.
God is with us and He is our God. He has chosen us and He has called us. He has saved us by His grace and we are kept by His grace. Are there moments when we will falter and fail, the answer is yes. But through it all, the Lord will always be there. He will always provide. He will meet every need. We serve an awesome God and may we draw near each day and simply continue to grow in intimacy with Him and our understanding of who He is.
Prayer
Father help me to understand who you are. Help me to understand that you will always provide. That I will never be in want. That you alone are the Good Shepherd and you have numbered all my days and go before me. Father help me to let go of the fear and to let go of the doubt. Thank you for all that you do and may your will be done in my life in the name of Jesus, Amen!
