The Lord Himself Will Come Down From Heaven
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (New International Version)
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
There is a day coming when the event known as the rapture will take place. Daily we prepare our hearts for the coming of the Lord by living for Him on a daily basis. No one knows the day or the hour of the Lord's return, but He has given us different signs that will mark His coming and His soon return.
The increase of wickedness on the earth points to the coming of the Lord. The spirit of the anti-Christ is at work in the hearts of many. Many world leaders today desire to unite under a single government and desire to rule the entire world. They reject the existence of God and they often believe they themselves are gods. They are deceived by the enemy and we who are in Christ are called to pray for them and pray that the will and purpose of God would be accomplished through them.
Sometimes we may wonder God where is your justice. Where is your righteousness. But there is coming a day when God will rightly deal with the wickedness of humanity. But until that day we must be busy about the business of our Father in Heaven. We must pray for the hearts and lives of those who are lost to come to Christ and that the gospel would go forth throughout the earth.
Until that trumpet sounds may we keep our hearts and minds fixed upon Jesus. Knowing that our Lord and King is fully in control. He has been given all authority and He has given us that authority as His people and His bride. Every day we have an opportunity to make an impact on this earth for the Lord and His kingdom. May we pray without ceasing and simply follow the leading and guidance of The Holy Spirit.
Father thank you for saving us. Thank you for your grace. Thank you for your goodness. Father each day help us to fix our hearts and minds upon the coming of your Son Jesus. Father help us to be a people who are committed to holiness and righteousness. May the fruit of the Spirit be produced within us on a daily basis. Father prune the areas of our life that need to be pruned. May in everything we do bring glory and honor to the name of Jesus. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
