Galatians 3:26-28 (New American Standard Bible 1995)
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Through faith in Jesus Christ we are adopted into God’s family. Because of our sin, we are separated from God. Some today will doubt they have sin and don’t even believe in God. But the understanding of who God is and that we are truly lost only comes as the Holy Spirit reveals truth to us.
Because we are separated from God at birth many times we are driven and mastered by desires that are contrary to God and His kingdom. The only way we are transformed is by the renewing of our minds. Our minds must be renewed by the word of God. It is only the Holy Spirit who can reveal truth and help us to understand the scriptures. But the Holy Spirit desires to reveal truth to us and He is simply waiting for us to ask.
Because of Jesus, we are all one in Him. The body of Christ across the earth is a diverse group of individuals who come from a variety of backgrounds. All of us have weaknesses in our life. All of us have a variety of different skin colors. But all of us bleed red and all of us are covered by the blood of Jesus. Jesus is what unites us and His prayer before going to the cross is that we would be one as He and the Father are one.
Everyday may we clothe ourselves with Christ. May we spend time in God’s presence and allow the Holy Spirit to have the freedom to change and mold us as He desires. We must surrender to the work and person of the Holy Spirit. For God to change us we must be willing to surrender. Many are very comfortable with the concept of Jesus as Savior, but few embrace the truth that Jesus must be Lord. For when Jesus is Lord we lay down everything that we desire for His will and His kingdom.
Prayer
Father I come to you today and ask you to help me surrender to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Help me to understand the truth of your word and help me to understand who I am in Christ. I thank you that my sins are forgiven and that I have been adopted into your family. Continue to lead and guide me each day and may my will and desires be surrendered to your purpose in my life. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
