The Lord Is Faithful

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

We live in a world where many people live in fear. Many love the thought of being protected. Many today are buying guns at an ever increasing rate because they feel that unless they protect themselves, no one will. But with Jesus this is not the case. Jesus doesn't promise us that we won't go through trials or challenges. He even tells us that we will be hated and persecuted because of Him, but in the midst of that persecution we have nothing to fear. The Lord goes with us. The more time we spend with Him, the more we become like Him. The more that His love and His grace fills our lives. His compassion begins to impact every area of our lives.

God is faithful. He will fulfill every promise and plan He has for our lives. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will provide for every need. The question is do we truly trust Him? Do we really believe that God will do everything He has said in His word. Sometimes our greatest enemy can simply be our own feelings and emotions. They are easily manipulated and if we are simply walking by sight, fear will be something we struggle with on a daily basis.

But it is a great comfort to know that Jesus will protect us from the evil one. We have a true enemy who desires to kill, steal, and destroy. He continually tries to tempt us to go back into the world and live in sin. But Jesus calls us every day to pick up our cross. God calls us to live according to His will and not our own selfish desire. The more we allow the word of God to change and transform us through the work and person of The Holy Spirit, we will find that in the midst of doubt, fear, and discouragement that we will simply trust the Lord. Not basing decisions on how we feel or what we see or even what our rational logical minds tell us, but basing all we do upon the promises of God.

Prayer

Father help me to trust you in the midst of every challenge and trial. Help me not to be overwhelmed by the lies and deceptions of the enemy. I pray that my eyes would be fixed upon you and your kingdom. Help me each day to be the person you have called me to be. Remove from my life anything that would hinder your plan and purpose. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
