Crucified with Christ: The Real Man's Identity

Scripture “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” — Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

Devotional Thought

Men, real strength isn’t found in how much you can bench, how far you can climb, or how many battles you win in the world’s eyes. True manhood begins at the cross.

Paul’s words cut straight to the heart of what it means to be a man of God. “I have been crucified with Christ” means the old you — the selfish, prideful, angry, lustful, fearful version — has been put to death. That man is no longer in charge.

Now, Christ Himself lives in you.

That’s not weakness. That’s the ultimate power. The same Jesus who faced the cross with courage, who stood against every enemy, who loved sacrificially, who led with authority — He now lives through you.

Your new life isn’t about trying harder in your own strength. It’s about surrendering daily so that Christ’s strength flows through you. You live by faith in the Son of God who loved you enough to die for you.

This is the call for every man:

  • Die to your ego.

  • Die to the need to prove yourself.

  • Die to chasing the world’s definition of success.

And rise up as a man in whom Christ lives.

When temptation hits, remember: the old man is crucified. When fear rises, remember: Christ lives in you. When you feel weak, remember: His power is made perfect in your surrender.

You were never meant to live for yourself. You were meant to be a vessel for the King.

Reflection Questions for Men

  1. What areas of my life am I still trying to control instead of letting Christ live through me?

  2. Where do I need to “crucify” my pride, anger, lust, or fear this week?

  3. How would my day change if I truly believed Christ is living in me right now?

Prayer Lord, thank You for loving me enough to give Yourself for me. Today I choose to be crucified with You. Kill off the old me — my selfish ambitions, my pride, my fears. Live in me and through me. Let my hands be Your hands, my words Your words, my strength Your strength. I live by faith in You, the Son of God. Make me the man You’ve called me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Challenge This week, every morning declare Galatians 2:20 out loud: “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” Then walk in that truth — at work, at home, in your relationships, and in the battles you face.

Christ in you — that’s the strongest man you’ll ever be.

May this devotional strengthen you as you walk out your faith as a man fully surrendered to Christ.
