“Far More Abundantly” – Ephesians 3 : 20‑21
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
When Our Imagination Meets God’s Power
Paul ends his prayer for the Ephesian believers with a doxology that stretches the limits of language. “Far more abundantly” in Greek piles superlative upon superlative—Paul is grasping for words big enough to describe the limitless capacity of God. Whatever you dare to ask, whatever you dare to imagine, God can still overflow the measure.
But notice the surprise: this immeasurable power is “at work within us.” The same God who spoke galaxies into being chooses to channel His strength through frail people so that His glory echoes in the church and resonates down every generation. Our lives become living billboards that point beyond ourselves to the One who energizes us.
Living in the Overflow
Dream in prayer. Because God’s capacity is infinite, prayer is never wish‑ful thinking. Every petition can be bold and hope‑filled.
Rely on His indwelling power. The Holy Spirit is not a distant helper; He animates our everyday obedience, creativity, endurance, and love.
Seek God’s glory, not our spotlight. When “abundant” answers arrive, we reroute the applause back to Jesus so future generations see His faithfulness, not our brilliance.
