Scripture Reading: Matthew 1:20-21 (NET) When he had contemplated this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son and you will name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

Reflection Joseph faced a profound crisis: his betrothed was pregnant, and he knew the child was not his. In his righteousness, he planned to divorce her quietly to spare her shame. But God intervened in a dream, revealing the miraculous truth and calling Joseph to a role far greater than he could imagine.
The angel's words—"do not be afraid"—cut through Joseph's fear and confusion. God reassured him of the divine origin of the child and unveiled the meaning of the name Jesus: "He will save his people from their sins." This moment pivots the Christmas story from potential tragedy to the dawn of salvation.
In our own lives, we often encounter unexpected turns that stir fear or doubt. Like Joseph, we may feel called to step forward in faith despite uncertainty. Advent reminds us that God speaks into our fears, inviting us to trust His greater plan. Joseph's obedience made him a key guardian in the story of redemption—showing that faithfulness in the face of the unknown opens the door to God's extraordinary work.
Prayer Father, thank You for speaking into our fears as You did with Joseph. Give us the courage to trust Your voice amid confusion and to embrace the plans You have for us. As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Savior, help us receive Him anew as the One who delivers us from sin. In Jesus name, Amen.

Thought for the Day What fear is God inviting you to release today, trusting that His plan brings salvation and hope?
