Ask, Seek, Knock A Devotional Adventure with Libby, Gigi, and Jesus
The Adventure
The sun was just peeking over the hills as Libby, Gigi, and Jesus walked along a quiet path. Libby’s blond hair glowed golden in the morning light, and her hazel eyes were full of questions. Gigi trotted beside them, her black-and-white coat shining, tongue happily flapping with every step.
They stopped under a big shady tree. Libby sat down cross-legged on the soft grass. Gigi flopped over with a big thump, rolling onto her back for belly rubs. Jesus sat with them, smiling gently.
“Jesus,” Libby said, “sometimes I don’t know what to say when I pray. Can You teach us how to talk to God?”
Jesus’ eyes twinkled with love. “That’s exactly what My friends asked Me one day. Let Me show you…”
Jesus Explains the Story
Jesus leaned forward and spoke softly but clearly, just like He did with His disciples long ago.
“Prayer is like talking to the Father who loves you more than anything. You can say: ‘Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation.’”
Libby repeated the words slowly, her hazel eyes wide with wonder. Gigi gave a little “woof” of agreement.
Then Jesus told them another story: “Imagine it’s the middle of the night. Your friend comes knocking on your door because he needs bread for a hungry visitor. Even if you’re already in bed, you’ll get up and give him what he needs because he keeps knocking!”
Jesus looked right at Libby and gently patted Gigi’s head. “God is so much better than any friend or even the best parent. When you ask, He listens. When you seek, you will find Him. When you knock, He opens the door with love. He wants to give you good things—especially His Holy Spirit to be with you always!”
Gigi sat up and leaned her big bulldog head on Libby’s shoulder, looking up at Jesus with sweet brown eyes. Libby hugged her tight.
“Even when I feel like Gigi—short, a little slow, and sometimes noisy—God still wants me to come to Him?” Libby asked.
Jesus laughed warmly. “Yes! He loves you just as you are. Keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking. Your Heavenly Father delights in answering you.”
What Can You Do Today?
Pray like Jesus taught: Say the Lord’s Prayer together with your family or quietly by yourself.
Ask, Seek, Knock: Think of something you need today (help, peace, joy, or just to feel close to God). Ask Him boldly!
Be persistent like Gigi: She doesn’t give up on belly rubs or treats. Don’t give up on prayer—even if you have to ask more than once.
Prayer Dear Jesus, Thank You for teaching us how to pray! Help Libby, Gigi, and me to talk to our Heavenly Father every day. Teach us to ask, seek, and knock with trusting hearts. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and give us everything we need. We love You! Amen.
Memory Verse “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Luke 11:9)
Now go on today’s adventure with Jesus—talk to Him about everything! 🐾🙏✨
