John 6:35 (NIV) – “Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’”

A few years ago, Sarah was going through a very challenging season—struggling with anxiety, work stress, and feeling emotionally drained. She tried everything to find relief: long hours at the gym, self-help books, even travel for a “reset.” While these gave temporary comfort, nothing truly satisfied her. One Sunday, she decided to attend a small Bible study and read John 6:35. Something clicked—she realized she had been seeking fulfillment in everything except Jesus. Over the next weeks, she started intentionally spending time in prayer and Scripture, letting Jesus be the focus of her satisfaction. Slowly, she discovered a peace and joy that nothing in the world could replace. She realized that true hunger and thirst are only satisfied in Him.

Quote:"You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you." – St. Augustine

Devotional Thought:We often seek satisfaction in material things, achievements, relationships, or distractions, hoping they will fill the emptiness inside. But Jesus makes a bold promise: when we come to Him, we will never truly hunger or thirst again. This doesn’t mean life’s challenges disappear, but it does mean that our deepest needs—our spiritual, emotional, and eternal needs—can only be fulfilled in Him.

Action Steps:

  1. Begin each day with 5–10 minutes of quiet time, focusing on Jesus as your source of life and satisfaction.

  2. Identify one area of your life where you’ve been seeking fulfillment outside of Christ. Surrender it to Him in prayer.

  3. Memorize John 6:35 and repeat it whenever you feel restless, anxious, or empty.

Personal Reflection Questions:

  1. In what areas of my life am I seeking satisfaction apart from Jesus?

  2. How can I cultivate a daily habit of coming to Jesus for my spiritual nourishment?

  3. What changes might occur in my life if I truly believed that Jesus alone can satisfy my deepest hunger and thirst?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for being the bread of life. Forgive me for times when I’ve sought fulfillment in the wrong places. Teach me to come to You daily, to rely on You for strength, peace, and satisfaction. Fill me with Your presence so that my hunger and thirst are fully satisfied in You alone. Help me to trust Your promise and live in the joy of knowing You are enough. Amen.
