Isaiah 12:2 (LSB)“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not dread; For Yah—Yahweh Himself—is my strength and song,And He has become my salvation.”

The Night the Storm Hit

A few years ago in coastal North Carolina, a woman named Carla lived through one of the most frightening nights of her life. A sudden tropical storm rolled in faster than predicted. Winds roared, trees snapped, and the power went out across the neighborhood. Carla lived alone, and as the storm intensified, fear flooded her heart. Every window rattled. Every gust felt like the house was being pushed off its foundation.

With no light except her phone’s fading battery, she curled up in the hallway and prayed. She later said, “I felt fear squeezing my lungs. But then a verse I’d memorized without even trying came back to me—Isaiah 12:2: ‘God is my salvation… I will trust and not dread.’ I whispered it again and again… and something changed. The storm didn’t stop, but the panic did.”

Her house made it through the night. But more than that—so did her peace.“That night,” she said, “God became my strength and song… not because He stopped the storm, but because He carried me through it.”

Reflection

Isaiah 12:2 is the declaration of a heart anchored in God, not circumstances. Notice the boldness:

  • “God is my salvation” — not just the giver of help, but the help Himself.

  • “I will trust and not dread” — fear may knock, but faith decides who gets to stay.

  • “Yahweh Himself is my strength and song” — God doesn’t just rescue; He becomes the melody of your life.

This verse isn’t naïve optimism. It’s a war cry of confidence in the character of God.

Storms come—emotional, financial, spiritual, physical. The winds of uncertainty can rattle the strongest heart. But Isaiah invites us to stand on a deeper foundation: trust grounded in who God is, not what we feel.

Quote

A.W. Tozer once wrote:

“When we put our confidence in God, every fear becomes powerless in the light of His presence.”

Where This Meets Your Life

What storm are you facing right now—seen or unseen? God does not promise a storm-free life, but He does promise His presence, His strength, and His salvation.

And when God is your salvation, dread loses its grip.

Prayer

Father, thank You that You are my salvation—my strength when I feel weak and my song when I feel overwhelmed. Teach me to trust You, even when fear rises. Remind me that You are present in every storm, and Your peace is stronger than my dread. Anchor my heart in Your character today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
